Hugh Jackman plans Australian concert tour based on his popular one-man Broadway show

By The Associated Press

SYDNEY – Hugh Jackman is knocking an item off his bucket list.

The Hollywood star plans a concert tour of his native Australia starting in November based on his successful one-man show on Broadway.

“Anybody who knows me knows that keeping secrets is not my forte … today is the announcement of a true bucket list moment for me,” he told reporters in Sydney on Monday.

The “Broadway to Oz” show will mix songs with Jackman’s own storytelling. He’ll perform with choirs, dancers and musicians, singing songs from shows he was part of or wanted to be.

While best-known as Wolverine in the “X-Men” films, the actor won a Tony Award as lead actor in the musical “The Boy From Oz,” based on the life of Australian singer-songwriter Peter Allen. He’s also been a repeat host of the Tonys and was nominated for an Oscar for “Les Miserables.”

“You will get to know the real me,” Jackman said.

The eight-date concert tour opens in Melbourne on Nov. 24, with later stops in Sydney, Perth, Adelaide and Brisbane.
