More Olympic road closures coming in January

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130):  With the Olympics just 39 days away, you will soon be noticing some major changes around the city–especially for drivers.  Several driving restrictions kick in this month, including major restrictions in the downtown core.

The area around the Athlete’s Village along False Creek will be closed off starting January 15th, and  commuters who head downtown will really be impacted starting on January 27th, when road closures take affect near the Olympic Media Centre…with closures and restrictions on Burrard, Howe, Thurlow, Waterfront and Canada Place.

January 29th sees additional closures around BC Place and GM Place. A chunk of Renfrew will be closed starting on January 24th, but most of the area around Pacific Coliseum won’t be affected until February 13th.  Also in February, road closures will start around the curling venue (Vancouver Olympic Centre/Vancouver Paralympic Centre) near Nat Bailey Stadium.

Parking restrictions in Vancouver begin February 4th, one month from today.

More information on closures and restrictions is available at the City of Vancouver’s Olympic website.
