Security video could identify teen’s killer, Toronto police say

TORONTO – A security camera just steps away from where an 18-year-old Toronto man was shot to death on Christmas Day may help identify his killer or killers.

Toronto police launched a dinner-hour canvass of the building Tuesday to find witnesses to the slaying and determine how many people were involved.

Homicide Det. Sgt. Steve Ryan says Jordan Brandon Hosten was “chased, ambushed and then attacked.”

Residents heard several gunshots in the fourth-floor hallway of the 16-storey building as the victim ran for his life with a gunman close behind, at about 4 p.m.

Shot in the head and arm, Hosten died in hospital last Saturday evening. A friend said he did not live in the building but often came to visit his father.
