Toronto police warn public following fraud investigation

TORONTO, Ont. – Police say there may be more victims after uncovering an alleged case of fraud, involving more than $128,000.

Police have charged Antonio Oliveira, 41, of Toronto, with two counts of fraud after one person was bilked out of that sum.

Investigators said it started as a case of someone claiming to be an investor, promising a high rate of return if the person handed over the money. The activity took place between March and June of last year in the Queen West and Dufferin area.

Police are asking anyone else who thinks they may have been scammed to call them or Crime Stoppers.
