Canucks three-goal third buries Capitals

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Henrik Sedin, Chris Higgins and Max Lapierre each scored third period goals to break a 4-4 tie, as the Vancouver Canucks downed the Washington Captials 7-4 last night at Rogers Arena. Alex Edler led the Canucks with two goals and an assist.
Higgins scored his second of the night just 34 seconds after Henrik’s game winning goal.
Vancouver’s defence chipped in with eight points. Kevin Bieksa and Dan Hamhuis each had a pair of assists, while Sami Salo had one helper to go with Edler’s three-point night.
Alex Ovechkin scored twice for the visitors. The Capitals lost for the second time in a row, after seven straight wins to start the season.
The Canucks play their next half dozen games on the road, starting Tuesday in Calgary against the Flames.
