Toronto’s Canadian National Exhibition is synonymous with unique and often delicious food items (Tiny Tom Donuts, for starters), and this year is no different.
The CNE teased one new, unusual addition that will be made available at the Exhibition: Ketchup and Mustard ice cream.
It’s from the same local Toronto food vendor Harrison Swift, who captured the attention and taste buds of CNE-goers when he introduced Pickle Lemonade to the menu in 2019.
Pickle Pizza and Rainbow Grilled Cheese were other popular additions that year.
“New this year, [Swift] has come up with a sweet and savoury twist on ice cream, offering a ketchup-flavoured and mustard-flavoured soft serve with appropriately fun accoutrements such as a pretzel or fries,” said CNE spokesperson Tran Nguyen.
“For those who love both ketchup and mustard — try them swirled together.”
The distinctively flavoured new ice creams will be available at a booth on the CNE Midway called So Cute Ice Cream.
The full line-up of foods is expected to be revealed a few days before the CNE’s opening on August 19.
Advanced tickets purchased before August 18 cost $20, while General Admission tickets for people 14 to 64 are $25. Seniors over 65 pay $20 for a ticket. Children under the age of four get in for free.
