Suspect sought after woman sexually assaulted at Vaughan store

Police in York Region are working to identify a suspect after a woman was sexually assaulted in a store in Vaughan.

Investigators allege a man went inside a store in the area of Steeles Avenue and Hilda Avenue around 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 21.

After walking around the store for several minutes, the man approached a woman from behind and sexually assaulted her. The suspect left the store and fled the area on foot once the victim called for help.

No injuries were reported.

Police have released photo of the male suspect in hopes someone can identify him.

He is described as man in his 20s with a heavy build, round facial features, with short dark hair and a faint moustache. He was last seen wearing a fur-lined hood, black track pants with white stripes down the side, white socks and dark-coloured sneakers with white soles. He was carrying a small, cooler-style lunch bag at the time of the assault.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact police.
