Woman dead after daylight stabbing in downtown Toronto, police say

Toronto police officers say a woman has died after she was stabbed in the city’s downtown Saturday afternoon.
Investigators said the incident happened near the intersection of Seaton Street and Callaghan Lane, just northeast of Sherbourne Street and Dundas Street East, at around 4:40 p.m.
Officers responded to a call for unknown trouble and said they found a woman in distress with stab wounds.
She was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, but she was later pronounced dead.
“This is an active investigation and we are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident,” Insp. Suzanne Redman told reporters during a brief statement Saturday evening.
Officers didn’t disclose information about a suspect or suspects nor if anyone was in custody.
