Police investigating bomb threat against Vaughan high school

Police in York Region are investigating and security measures have been stepped up at a Vaughan high school after a reported bomb threat.

York Regional Police (YRP) say they were notified on Thursday by the York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) about a bomb threat against Father Bressani Catholic High School. The school is located near Langstaff Road and Ansley Grove Road.

“YRP immediately began an investigation to assess the threat and its origins,” reads a statement from police. “As a precaution, there will be increased security measures and police will be present at the school today.”

Police say they cannot speak further “to the credibility of the threat” as it remains under investigation.

In an email to parents, the school says administration immediately contacted police and are working with them. The school remains open and police will be there throughout the day.

On Thursday, security measures were enhanced at several high schools in Peel Region after reported threats of violence on social media. Police tell Citynews there were no reported issues at the schools or any arrests made so far.
