Mayoral candidates for the 2014 election

Toronto’s next mayoral election isn’t until 2014, but potential challengers to Mayor Rob Ford’s big seat at city hall are already being propped up by their respective supporters.

New Democrat MP Olivia Chow hasn’t ruled out a run for mayor.

During a conference in Toronto on Nov. 14, Chow said she’s been bombarded by people urging her to run and said she was listening to the collective call.

Other early names being thrown around are councillors Adam Vaughan and Shelley Carroll.

But a recent poll suggests Chow would be the frontrunner.

A Forum Research survey conducted in November showed that Chow would defeat both Ford and Vaughan in a three-way match, the Toronto Star reported.

Forty per cent of those surveyed said they would pick Chow, compared to 35 per cent for Ford and 13 per cent for Vaughan.

Twelve per cent were undecided.

We want to know what you think about the prospect of Olivia Chow running for mayor. Can she stop Ford nation?
