It’s hard to be a Toronto Maple Leafs fan these days and devotees aren’t holding back anymore when it comes to voicing their displeasure.
Fans booed the Leafs during their lacklustre effort against the Edmonton Oilers Thursday night at the Air Canada Centre. Several people in the stands directed their disappointment at coach Ron Wilson and shouts of “Fire Wilson” were heard throughout the latter part of the game.
The Oilers and their number one draft pick Taylor Hall crushed the Buds 5-0 — the sixth time the Leafs have been shut out this season.
Thursday’s loss was also the Leafs’ fourth in a row.
Wilson has had strong backing from Leafs’ General Manager Brian Burke, despite the tough run.
Fans hoping for a glimmer of hope Saturday night may want to take a reality check. The Buds are home to the Bruins and Tyler Seguin – the number two draft pick the Leafs could’ve snagged.
