About Stella
Stella Acquisto joined the team back in 2011 with the launch of CityNews Channel.
She was hired as a traffic reporter, but joined the weather team days later. Her passion for news, weather and sports has allowed her to evolve into the role she is in today. Stella is our weekend weather anchor on both CityNews and 680 NEWS. When she's not updating you on the current temperatures and conditions or bearing the cold at a live event, she is general reporting and covering our athlete of the week segment.
On occasion she will also fill in for Frank Ferragine on BT (Breakfast Television).
Acquisto is first-generation Canadian. She was born in Toronto, raised in Woodbridge and comes from an Italian background.
She studied Journalism at Seneca and earned a Political Science and Communications Studies degree at York University.
Stella is an adrenaline junkie, from skydiving to plunging in -20 C water, she is up for the challenge.
She has also covered more serious topics placing herself in the shoes of a homeless person for a night.
During her time at City, Stella worked for Fox Soccer as their game-day weather specialist.
Prior to her arrival at City, she worked in Northern Ontario for three years covering news and weather.
Stella's time up north allowed her to take her skills abroad covering a four-part series in Haiti, a year after the earthquake.
An interesting fact about Stella, she used to be a flight attendant, which allowed her to travel around the world.
