Area near Muskoka evacuated after brush fire

Around 50 people were forced from their homes after a brush fire in Muskoka on Tuesday.

The six-hectare wide fire began around 1 p.m., Ontario Provincial Police said, and required two water bombers.

The displaced residents have since been allowed back. No homes were damaged and there are no reports of injuries.

Four township fire stations fought the flames on Huckleberry Rock in Milford Bay, Muskoka Lakes Mayor Alice Murphy told The Canadian Press.

It’s not yet known how the fire started.
