WATCH: Subban endures epic Ice Bucket Challenge; calls out Drake, Kessel

Toronto-born Montreal Canadiens star P.K. Subban endured an epic Ice Bucket Challenge live on CityNews at 6 on Friday, bravely being doused with a dump truck full of ice water to raise awareness and cash for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).

The truck was filled with 60 bags of ice and the seemingly never-ending stream had the Habs star shivering and hollering.

A soaked Subban then issued his own challenges to Leafs star Phil Kessel, Raptors ambassador and 416 rap sensation Drake, Canadiens owner Geoff Molson, and President of Sportsnet and NHL Properties for Rogers, Scott Moore.

There’s no word yet if they’ve accepted the challenges.

Earlier, CityNews reporters Danielle Michaud, Stella Acquisto, Cynthia Mulligan, Shauna Hunt, and Amanda Ferguson, all put on their game faces for the cause.

They all took the challenge to raise funds and awareness for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

The icy initiative began when former Boston College baseball captain Pete Frates was diagnosed with ALS at 27 in 2012.  He’s been a tireless advocate, and the ice water idea started as a dare to his buddies.

Since then several prominent athletes have accepted the challenge, including Arizona Coyotes tough guy Paul Bissonnette.

Nominated by former Arizona Coyotes teammate Keith Yandle to complete the challenge, Biznasty took it to new heights, literally.

Former Toronto Maple Leafs Mikhail Grabovski and Nikolai Kulemin nominated Dave Nonis and Randy Carlyle after completing it, while Leafs captain Dion Phaneuf and wife Elisha Cuthbert have also taken part.

Subban had been challenged by Montreal Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin, who carried out the icy mission with the help of Habs’ mascot Youppi!
