Horwath has people’s votes after #CityVote: The Debate, Twitter poll says

During #CityVote: The Debate, we published four polls on Twitter that each lasted 10 minutes, gauging the audience’s reaction.

Just as the show kicked off, we asked people who had their vote.

Fourty-two per cent of people chose Doug Ford, 27 per cent chose Andrea Horwath, 24 per cent chose Kathleen Wynne, and seven per cent chose “other.”

At 6:39 p.m., we asked which leader had the best position on policing.

The question on policing was: “The province recently passed a bill intended to address longstanding policing issues. That bill included nothing about de-escalation training for police officers that would’ve prevented what happened to my brother from happening again. What de-escalation training would you mandate province-wide to ensure more outcomes like the one Toronto Constable Ken Lam had during the tragic van attack on Yonge Street?”

See their answers in the video below.

Ford came out as the winner again in this poll, with 43 per cent. Horwath was second with 38 per cent and Wynne had 19 per cent.

People who answered the next poll think Ford will solve Toronto’s transit woes. He promised a $5-billion investment for new subways, relief lines and a Go Transit expansion that would see service go all the way to Niagara Falls.

In the final poll, we asked who has your vote again, after watching the leaders spar. Horwath captured the top spot by the end of the debate, with 43 per cent of support (one per cent more than Ford had when he was in the lead when the debate started). Ford had 39 per cent support, and Wynne trailed behind with 14 per cent. Four per cent chose the “other” option.
