Braves Can’t End Losing Streak Against Jays

The misery continued for the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday night after losing 6-3 to the Toronto Blue Jays to extend their longest losing streak in 18 years.

The Braves have now lost an embarrassing 19 of 22 games, and have gone 2-17 in June. They are 12 games under .500.

Vernon Wells hit his 18th homer and Lyle Overbay had two RBIs in a decisive four-run fourth inning for the Jays.

On the Ted Lilly (7-7) gave up six hits and three runs in six innings and B.J. Ryan finished things off, getting the final three outs for his 19th save in 20 chances.

Tim Hudson, who has had great success against the Jays in his career going 10-1 with a 2.32 ERA, couldn’t get on track. He walked five and gave up seven hits and five runs in seven innings.

The Braves banged in two runs in the sixth to make it 4-3, but that was as close as they would get.

Wells’ homer in the seventh pushed the score to 5-3 and a run scored on a wild pitch in the eighth put the final nail in the coffin.
