Lightning Strike
A woman and man who were at an east end park to watch a children’s performance were struck by lightning Saturday evening.
The incredible incident happened in Taylor Creek Park. Police say the woman and man took cover under a tree when storm clouds rolled in around 8:30pm.
The woman opened an umbrella, which was struck by lightning. The charge travelled through the woman’s body and into the man standing next to her.
Both victims were taken to hospital, treated and released and amazingly, both suffered only minor burns.
Fatal Crash
One person is dead after a two-car collision near Hamilton early Sunday.
The head-on crash happened just after 1:30am on Highway 6, north of Milgrove.
Authorities believe the accident happened when a southbound vehicle crossed into the northbound lanes, hitting a car carrying three passengers.
The driver of the southbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene and the passengers in the other car were taken to hospital.
Dramatic Rescue
An incredible rescue took place Sunday night on the 401 after a car plunged off the highway.
The incident happened around 9:45pm when the car ended up in a construction site in the eastbound lane at Yonge and then fell about seven metres down an embankment into the valley.
The driver’s okay but the 56-year-old faces serious charges including impaired driving.
