Police Search For Suspect After Bizarre String Of Robberies

The strange string of attempted and successful heists began around 11pm Friday when a man walked into a Mamma’s Pizza on Centre Street armed with a handgun and demanded cash. The victims complied and after the bandit left the shop he tried to take a car in the parking lot, police said, but was unsuccessful.

He then tried to rob a hair salon beside the Mamma’s Pizza, but he was met with resistance as the person inside pushed him to the ground.

As the suspect fled the salon he stopped to try and rob a man who’d just left a bank machine. He demanded the man hand over the cash, but when the victim refused the suspect pistol-whipped him, authorities said.

The suspect then spotted a car, but the driver sped off before he could get too close.

Police say the bandit then jumped into the back of another car carrying a man and woman driving on Centre Street. He threatened them with his gun, stole their cash and belongings and demanded they take him to Beverly Glen Boulevard. When they arrived he then took off on foot.

The suspect is described as:

  • Asian
  • 18 to 20-years-old
  • 5’8″
  • Black, spiked hair

Police say he has facial hair and a possible moustache. He was wearing baggy jeans, a red baseball jersey and a mask.

If you can help detectives track him down call 1-866-876-5423 ext. 7873 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

As police were responding to the robberies, an Emergency Response Unit vehicle crashed into another car.

The people in the second vehicle were seriously injured and the province’s Special Investigations Unit has been called in to investigate. The organization probes incidents involving civilians and police that result in serious injury or death.
