Kyle Snyder put on a brilliant pitching performance, allowing just two hits in seven innings and striking out a career-high eight batters to lead the Boston Red Sox to a narrow, but hard-earned 2-1 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night.
Snyder kept the Jays in check all night, allowing just two runners past first base and retiring the last nine batters he faced before being replaced by a competent Keith Foulke.
While the bullpen was befuddling the Blue Birds, Mike Lowell was once again exhibiting his power-hitting prowess, homering for the second straight night.
The Jays are now a dismal 0-5 on their seven-game road trip. They wrap things up with games Saturday and Sunday at Fenway Park. Their road woes have seen them fall four games behind the second-place Sox in the AL East.
