Beyonce, John Mayer To Play Free Concerts In Toronto

Call it a birthday present from Beyonce.

The former Destiny’s Child singer has announced a free show at Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square on Friday, Sept. 15 th. It’s part of a promotional weekend for U.S.-based electronics chain Best Buy, which is set to open its newest location a block away, at Bay and Dundas Sts.

Another chart-topper, singer-songwriter John Mayer, plays a free show Saturday afternoon.

The first 250 fans to line up at the store before noon on Sept. 13 th will receive wristbands that’ll allow entry to a special VIP section for Beyonce’s show. Fans wanting an autograph from the hip-shaking singer are asked to line up on Sept. 15 th before 3:45pm. The first 150 people in line will be invited to the autograph session.

Beyonce will sign copies of her new CD, B’Day, which was released Tuesday, a day after the singer’s 25 th birthday.

Mayer will take to the same stage on Sept. 16 th at 4pm. There will also be 250 VIP wristbands available for that show – available on Sept. 14 th before noon. The first 150 fans who buy his new CD, Continuum, at the Bay/Dundas Best Buy will be eligible for autographs on the 16 th.

The album is released next Tuesday.
