With the school year underway, it’s time for students to start using their heads, unfortunately, some nearly invisible critters want to use their heads too. Forty per cent of children have lice, and most parents are totally oblivious.
The eggs, or nits, are very tiny, about the size of a grain of pepper, and they cling on to a piece of hair with a substance that can’t be washed or combed away.
Maria Hale’s daughters had lice last year, but she was afraid to use pesticide shampoos, opting for a more natural approach.
“We used a Tea Tree oil based shampoo conditioner to wash the hair and then we added the oil concentrate,” she explained.
Another non-pesticide shampoo called ‘Results’ is getting good reviews.
It works by dissolving the louse’s outer coating, causing the lice to dehydrate.
“We tested this product and found that it was a safe and effective way to kill lice,” confirms Dr. Nalini Kaul.
