Man Arrested After Woman Assaulted Over Eight Hour Period

Durham Police were called to a townhouse complex on Kingston Road around 8:30am Tuesday after neighbours reported hearing loud noises and the sounds of a woman crying or moaning inside one of the units.
When officers searched one of the homes it was empty and then they searched the grounds and discovered a man and a woman locked inside a public washroom in a nearby apartment building.
Police allege the assaults started around midnight Monday and continued through the night. The suspect ordered the victim to strip naked and authorities say he repeatedly kicked and punched her. The woman was also threatened with death and was slashed and jabbed with a knife several times.
The victim apparently managed to escape when her attacker fell asleep, but the suspect found her hiding inside the washroom. Police showed up just after the man had discovered her.
Richard Anthony Bollers is facing a long list of charges, including aggravated sexual assault, possession of dangerous weapons, forcible confinement and breach of probation.
