The UTS Blues Tennis team is quickly gaining a reputation for their talent and tenacity.
The Blues dominated the Regionals last year before losing a heartbreaker in the finals. They’re expecting equal if not better results this year under the leadership of 15-year-old Josh Budman.
He and partner David Lee are almost unbeatable. Although Budman admits the transition from single to doubles has taken some getting used to.
“The biggest adjustment is that, when being a singles player I’m sort of an all around player but I mostly stay back at the baseline, counter punch a bit. So in doubles, in order to achieve a win (I need) to try to come to the net as much as possible, hit the ball deep and come to the net before the other team comes to the net.”
