Hadassah-Wizo Bazaar Promises Great Bargains

The annual shop till they make you stop sale goes from 9am-7pm Wednesday and unless you’re an early riser, it may already be too late.
The charity event, being held at the Direct Energy Building at The C.N.E, brings a variety of big name products to 45 different booths – and at least 95 percent of them are brand new.
Among the gold medal ‘events’: The Get That Purse charge.
“We’ve got Prada, we’ve got Louis Vuitton,” explains volunteer Suzanne Stein. “Retail [they go for] $845. We’re hoping this will take $100.”
Not surprisingly, with prices like that, the big sale attracts thousands of eager early risers, who wait outside before dark just to get in and beat the competition to the bargains.
That’s the first event of this marathon and it’s been keeping the shopping torch lit for the past 72 years.
And while the world has changed in all that time, those behind the Bazaar note it’s still the best deal in town.
“We were the only discount place to shop in all of the city,” chair Sherri Lieberman remembers. “Now of course, there are discount outlets and dollar stores. But we sell things at rock bottom prices and you can get everything here.”
The profits from the sale go to local charities and health care facilities in Israel. So you can not only get a good bargain, but do a good deed.
But remember to come with money. You’ll likely wind up spending more than you planned.
Admission is $4, although children under 5 get in free. But be careful if you bring your kids – somebody may try to buy one of them! (Although you can probably get one cheaper at the booth next door.)
