S.I.U. Called In Following West End Stabbing

The province’s Special Investigations Unit has been called in following an overnight stabbing.

A man walked into a hospital in the city’s west end with stab wounds to the stomach early Tuesday.

When police went to investigate where the knifing had taken place, at an apartment on Capri Rd. near Rathburn Rd. and the East Mall, they reportedly found a suspect.

Something happened in the course of the arrest, however, and the suspect was injured. That prompted officers to contact the S.I.U., which is called in whenever a civilian is injured or killed in connection with police.

Neither the suspect nor the victim was identified.

The victim remains in serious condition in hospital.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to phone police at 416-808-2200 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
