Despite one of the Raptors’ best efforts of the season so far, it wasn’t enough to beat the Golden State Warriors who came on strong in the fourth quarter to win 110-99.
Baron Davis had 22 points – half of those coming in the fourth – and 12 assists for the Warriors, helping power them to their third straight victory in a seven-game homestand. Monta Ellis also contributed 10 of his 14 points in the fourth.
Mike Dunleavy scored 22 points and Andris Biedrins had 14 points and 12 rebounds in the Warriors’ victory.
It was a game the Raptors could have won, buoyed by one of Chris Bosh’s finest performances. He scored 23 points and matched a career high 22 rebounds for Toronto, which set a team record with 41 points in the second quarter.
But they lost steam near the end, shooting only 13 of 43 in the second half.
Toronto was still in it, trailing 92-90 with six-and-a-half minutes left to play, but they didn’t get another field goal until T.J. Ford scored with 1:06 remaining.
Raptors coach Sam Mitchell shuffled his lineup for the first time this season, putting Fred Jones in at guard for a struggling Morris Peterson. Jones scored 11 points, while Peterson managed just five points after entering the game late in the first quarter.
Toronto plays the Lakers in L.A. on Friday.
