Lava Life, one of the largest of the Internet dating sites, sees response spike around this time of year. And it goes up 20 percent by the time we reach Boxing Day.
“It is a tough time for people who are single from friends and family,” agrees the site’s Lori Miller. “If you are single, why are you not with someone? People have been out to tons of parties probably by themselves and they have New Year’s coming up.”

“It is kind of sad. It kind of sucks,” she emotes. “Hopefully, I will find somebody. You know, you want somebody to share the holidays with.”
Miller’s advice? If you don’t want to stay single, make sure you mingle.
“Get out there,” she proclaims. “Don’t turn down any invitation.”

Meet Market, for example, has a pottery class you can take, so you can spoon as you make a bowl.
Lava Life has a special New Year’s Eve event planned.
Dinner Works plans a sumptuous feast for those with an inn-“ate” need for company and food.
And 25 Dates actually lets you have that many encounters for a period of three minutes each.
Which means finding someone you can click with sometimes starts with someone you click on.
Here’s a list of just a few of the more prominent online dating sites.
