Two 15-Year-Old Girls Arrested For Prostitution

Often when young teens are discovered working the streets as prostitutes, there’s an older individual who has coerced or intimidated them into the risky behaviour.
No one yet knows what drove two 15-year-old girls into that raunchy realm of the underworld, but police contend there’s no adult involvement in the tragic case.
The investigation began as a regular hooker sweep in Oshawa after residents complained about the activity in their neighbourhood. It ended with the shocking revelation that young teens were selling themselves for cash.
“We had a number of citizens phone us, so we went down and took a look and sure enough we found two young ladies there working the streets, so detectives went out and did what they did, and we’ve arrested two 15-year-old girls in Oshawa for prostitution,” explained Dave Selby, Durham Police Spokesman.
One of the girls was a ward of the Children’s Aid Society and has been returned to their custody. The other is being held by police.
Both have been charged with communicating for the purpose of prostitution and will appear in youth court.
“It’s disturbing for veteran police officers as well,” Selby adds. “These are very young women. These are 15-year-old girls, and for them to be in that business right now, there’s so many risks involved.”
Fed up residents recall seeing the girls at ‘work’ on numerous occasions.
“I’ve seen the girls, and they’re young. No doubt about it, and it’s sick,” said Krista, who lives in the area.
“ Go down there, you’ll see at least one girl at all times,” adds Joe Strickland.
