Jazz Tune Raptors

The longing glances towards the post-season were momentarily averted for the Toronto Raptors on Friday night when they fell 102-94 to the Utah Jazz.

Over the past few weeks the Raptors have been on quite a run — one that’s seen them climb to the top of the standings in their division.   But they looked nothing like serious contenders on Friday, making sloppy mistakes and generally handing the win to the Jazz, much to the chagrin of Mitchell.

“I’m disappointed because we didn’t win the game,” said Mitchell. “I felt like we beat ourselves.

“Not to take anything away from Utah but we turned down shots when we were open, we missed people on easy passes that we normally make. We were just in funk. We missed free throws, we missed layups, we missed shots that go in.”

“It was just one of those nights, we just couldn’t get things right,” said Mitchell.

Mehmet Okur scored 27 points and Carlos Boozer added 23 to lead the Jazz.

Chris Bosh finished with 29 points and 11 rebounds for Toronto.

“We took a step back today, and it happens,” said Bosh. “The thing we need to do is, we need to look at the film and learn from our mistakes, continue to play our style of defence because we didn’t do such a good job today.”
