Impressive Honour For Oscar Nominee Jennifer Hudson

Dreamgirls star Jennifer Hudson may feel she’s living a dream, with all the awards statuettes she’s picked up lately.

But now she’s about to make history.

Hudson will grace the cover of fashion magazine Vogue, becoming the first black singer to do so.

The 25-year-old, who hails from Chicago, plays Effie White in Dreamgirls. The film has a cast of bigger-name stars, including Beyonce Knowles, Jamie Foxx, and Eddie Murphy but it’s been Hudson that’s really stolen the show.

She was photographed for the cover shot by Annie Leibovitz in New York City’s Harlem theatre.

Hudson was voted off American Idol in 2004 despite obvious talent – it had been thought at the time that she was one of the favourites to win.

Now the young star is all smiles, having recently picked up a Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild award, and BAFTA award for best supporting actress. She’s touted to win the Oscar in that category as well, despite stiff competition from actresses including Cate Blanchett.

Hudson will front the “Power Issue” of Vogue, expected to hit newsstands in late February.
