Raptors Rookies Enjoy All-Star Experience Despite Lopsided Loss

Raptors rookies Andrea Bargnani and Jorge Garbajosa took part in the N.B.A. all-star weekend on Friday night, clashing with the league’s sophomore players in a lead-up event to the big game on Saturday.

The rookies got rocked by their more experienced opponents, falling 155-114 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas .

Bargnani scored 14 points, and enjoyed the opportunity immensely despite the one-sided score.

“It’s the experience, the atmosphere, everything around the game, it’s nice,” said Bargnani. “It’s the first time I’ve seen something like that, so I’m very happy.

“Of course it’s bad to lose by 40.”

Garbajosa also took the lopsided loss lightly.

“I had fun,” he said. “It’s the type of game, you have to take it for what it is.”

“It’s a crazy place,” Bargnani said of Vegas. “It’s the best appointment of basketball in the world, so it’s the most exciting thing one player can do.”

David Lee of the New York Knicks was named MVP of the game after he scored 30 points to lead the sophomores.
