Raptors Rock Nuggets

Without Anthony Parker and Andrea Bargnani in the lineup, the Toronto Raptors could have easily taken a night off.   Instead, they exhibited their depth and ran over their opponents, the Denver Nuggets, 121-94.

“It was probably as complete a game we played on both ends as we have all year,” said Raptors coach Sam Mitchell. “It would be hard to beat this one.”

Morris Peterson and Jorge Garbajosa picked up the slack for the short-handed Raptors, with Peterson collecting 23 points in what amounted to one of his best games of the season.

Garbajosa was right behind him with a career-high 22 points in an outstanding first-half performance.

“I felt really good because the team won, because I played a good game, because everyone put in a decent effort,” said Garbajosa. “We feel good when everybody has some part of responsibility, when everybody feels important in the win.”

T.J. Ford added 14 points for Toronto , which entered the contest with a six-game lead over the New Jersey Nets atop the Atlantic Division.

Chris Bosh also had 14 points before he was relegated to the sidelines after hurting his ankle. The injury, however, doesn’t appear to be serious.
