Travis Moen scored the game winner on Monday night as the Anaheim Ducks took Game 1 of the Stanley Cup final with a 3-2 come-from-behind victory over the Ottawa Senators.
Moen scored with just 2:51 remaining. Andy McDonald and Ryan Getzlaf scored Anaheim ‘s other goals.
“It’s huge,” said Moen. “I think every kid dreams of scoring a goal to win a game in the Stanley Cup final. It’s something special, something I’ll never forget.”
Mike Fisher and Wade Redden both scored on the power-play for Ottawa.
Senators coach Bryan Murray admits his team was outplayed.
“They had the majority of the (scoring chances) and their checking line wound up getting the winning goal,” he said. “That was the game in a nutshell.”
Game 2 is set for Wednesday.
