How would you like to take a day off and head to Hogwarts? You’ll be able to do that soon on a coming March Break or Christmas vacation, but you don’t have to be a wizard with anything but money to make it happen. Universal Studios in Orlando has confirmed it’s planning to open a new theme park based on the Harry Potter books, movies and related phenomena.
“The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” is set to recreate many of the locations used in the famous J.K. Rowling books, including the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the Forbidden Forest, Dumbledore’s office and Hogsmeade village. And those behind the idea are aiming to make this as accurate as possible. They’ve set up shop in the same studio where the epic movies are filmed to accurately recreate every last detail. The woman behind the boy admits she’s impressed. “The plans I’ve seen look incredibly exciting, and I don’t think fans of the books or films will be disappointed,” Rowling relates.
But some are already wondering if backers have missed the boat. Rowling has penned what she vows is her last story in the series, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”, which is due out July 21st. Rumours are still running rampant that the lead character will die in the final installment, but Rowling is begging those who read her final tome not to reveal the ending and ruin it for everyone else. The fifth movie in the always lucrative franchise, “” Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” opens July 11th.
The park itself won’t be built and running until sometime in late 2009 and many wonder if the kids will have moved on to something else by then.
