Roy Halladay looked nothing like the Cy Young award-winning ace pitcher that regularly bails his team out of tight binds on Tuesday. This time, it was his teammates who bailed him out.
Halladay gave up 12 hits and eight runs in just 3 1-3 innings, but the Toronto Blue Jays still managed to get the win over the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, 12-11, after staging a remarkable rally.
The Jays dug themselves an early hole, but clawed out of it with a vengeance when Aaron Hill’s bases-loaded walk capped a six-run outburst in the bottom of the ninth.
Toronto was down 11-6 heading into the prolific frame.
Josh Towers hit the mound for two innings to earn the win, Toronto’s third straight.
