Arrests Continue In Connection With British Terror Plot

British police focused Tuesday on at least four physicians with roots outside Britain — including a doctor seized at an Australian airport — in the investigation into failed car bombings in Glasgow and London .

Meanwhile, two men were arrested in an industrial park in northwestern England under the Terrorism Act Tuesday, lifting the total number of possible suspects in the ongoing case to 10, though a statement from the Lancashire police insisted it was “too early to confirm whether or not these arrests are linked to recent events in London and Glasgow.”

At least four of the eight suspects directly tied to the terror investigation are identified as doctors from Iraq , Jordan and India . A doctor from India , 27-year-old Muhammad Haneef, was detained at Brisbane ‘s international airport while allegedly trying to board a flight with a one-way ticket. It’s also believed that at least two of the people detained Sunday in Scotland were trainee physicians.

All of the arrests have come while security hits an all-time peak at British airports, train stations and city streets. A bomb disposal team was forced to carry out a controlled explosion Tuesday on a suspicious car parked outside a mosque in Glasgow .

Following Saturday’s high-profile incident in which two men rammed a Jeep Cherokee loaded with gas cylinders into the terminal at Glasgow’s airport and set the vehicle on fire, and Friday’s in which two car bombs failed to explode in central London, police are also investigating an attack on an Asian news agent Tuesday in Glasgow, in which a car was rammed into a shop before catching fire, as well asthe torching of a real estate office next to a mosque near Edinburgh on Monday.
