Saturday night was a good one for Calgary quarterback Henry Burris as the former NFLer threw a season-high 307 yards and two touchdowns as his team coasted to a 33-10 win over the Toronto Argonauts.
It took the Stamps 57 minutes and 21 seconds to first find the end zone in their 48-15 blow-out at Rogers Centre earlier in the season, but this time the Calgary offence wasted no time, scoring on the opening drive in front of a home crowd of 28,202 at McMahon Stadium.
The highlights of the night was a 39-yard reception by Brett Ralph and a fake field goal with two minutes left in which Ralph, normally the holder, shoveled the football to Trey Young who rambled into the end zone from 39 yards away.
Calgary (2-2) pulls into a tie for third place in the West while Toronto (2-2) remains in second spot in the East.
Toronto’s scoring came from kicker Noel Prefontaine, who delivered a successful attempt from 30 yards out and a late touchdown to Obed Cetoute.
Meanwhile, the Argos woes under centre continued, as Mike McMahon‘s CFL debut as a starter was hardly sparkling, despite being in a stadium that shares his name. Filling in for the injured Michael Bishop, the Rutgers product began the game with five straight incompletions and didn’t complete any pass eight-plus minutes into the second quarter.
Veteran Damon Allen took over in the fourth quarter but was unable to move the team either.
