Halladay Out-Dueled By Sox Counterpart

This time around it was Mark Buehrle that got the best of the pitcher’s duel.
Just as Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay bested the White Sox lefty despite a two-hitter earlier this season, on Saturday night it was Halladay who dominated, only to have his team fall because of one quick mistake.
Buehrle went eight scoreless innings against the Doc and Jerry Owens hit his first career home run as Chicago’s only markers in a 2-0 win over Toronto.
Halladay pitched a nearly flawless game in an attempt to get the Blue Birds back in the win column after their five-game wins streak was snapped in the series opener Friday night, but he unraveled just long enough for Sox second baseman Danny Richar to lead off the seventh inning with a single before Owens sent the next pitch over the fence in right.
Then again it was bound to happen sooner or later, the home run broke a streak of 21 scoreless innings for Halladay, who allowed 10 hits over the eight frames, though he was only threatened on the single occasion.
Buehrle, who recently signed a lengthy contract extension, allowed eight hits, before giving way to closer Bobby Jenks, who worked a scoreless ninth to seal the victory.
