Final Parade Preps

Now that the Caribana King and Queen have been crowned, the focus settles squarely on Saturday’s big parade, which promises to be the most extravagant and celebrated to date.

But while Toronto prepares to Jump Up, police are preparing to look down, with five new surveillance cameras installed along Yonge street.

At the Caribana kickoff at police headquarters chief Bill Blair said the cameras will help to keep the streets safe.

“Our intent is to prevent crime,” he said.  “People who might be predisposed to come down and commit criminality crime will know they’ll get their pictures taken.”
