Single Mom Waitress Claims $6 Million Lottery Prize

You’ve heard of the 6 Million Dollar Man? Meet the 6 Million Dollar Woman. Her name is Christina Hawrylowicz and she’s the big winner of last week’s Super 7 draw. The 47-year-old single mother of four kids has never been married and plays a single lottery ticket every week. But she had a hunch when she went in to buy a Quick Pick and felt like something was going to happen. She went to check the number on CP24 after her kids woke her up early Saturday morning. Then she phoned the lottery number.

“I jotted it down,” she remembers. “I looked and the very first number was the winning number.”  She immediately told her son about the win, but he didn’t believe it. As she held the cheque in her hand, he quickly became convinced.

The money comes at a good time for Hawrylowicz. The former waitress has been on disability for a bad back and hasn’t been able to work. She has a 30-year son, a daughter who’s 17 and seven-year-old twins, all of whom she’s raised on her own. She plans to use the money to buy a house – she’s renting one now – take care of her kids’ schooling needs and plan for their security.

But don’t expect her to stop playing the lottery. Not only will she keep buying tickets, she expects this won’t be her last big prize. “I think I’m going to win one again, too,” she laughs.
