A Guinness World Book of Records attempt was stalled due to high winds over the weekend as engineers and volunteers attempted to build the tallest freestanding structure made of LEGO. Specialized engineers all the way from Denmark led the building process at the Canadian National Exhibition.
The previous record was set in Carlsbad, California in May 2007 at a staggering 94.3 feet – more than nine stories tall.
Visitors were encouraged to participate throughout the weekend. The tower site is located on the west side of the Food Building at the CNE.
Each year, kids around the world spend almost 5 billion hours playing with LEGO.
