Parental Discovery

Margaret Pierson was strolling through the Fort Walton Beach Flea Market in Florida last week when a black-and-white photo hanging on a wall caught her eye.

The portrait dangled in a broken frame, and the familiarity of the face was such that she was immediately drawn to it. It looked exactly like one she had at home.

As she drew closer, she realized the resemblance was uncanny, and she was looking at a picture of her father, who died in Birmingham, Alabama in 1972.

Pierson was understandably startled, and can’t figure out how the photo got there. It seems her family held an estate sale after her father’s death and several old photos were included. What that doesn’t explain is how an estate sale in another state could have brought the photo to northwest Florida more than three decades later.
