Elana Glatt wanted her wedding just so, which it was … except for the flowers. They were the wrong colour, and now the bride is suing the florist — to the tune of $400,000.
Glatt says Manhattan ‘s Posy Floral Design substituted pastel pink and green hydrangeas for the dark rust and green ones she had specified for the 22 centrepieces at her affair. But it gets worse. She also alleges the flowers were wilted and brown, and arranged in dusty vases without enough water.
Now Glatt, who just happens to be a lawyer, has filed a suit on behalf of herself, her husband, David, and her mother-in-law, Tobi Glatt, who paid for the arrangements at $27,435.14.
Still, the lawsuit is seeking $400,000 in restitution and damages from florist Stamos Arakas who contends he and his wife, Paula, tried to match the colour of the hydrangeas with a picture Glatt had given them.
He also says that he explained to the bride-to-be that the colours might not match what she wanted exactly but adds that in retrospect, maybe he shouldn’t be surprised at the litigious turn of events.
“My father used to tell me, ‘Don’t deal with the lawyers,'” he said. “ Maybe he was right, God bless his soul.”
