Raptors Come Out Flat In Embarrassing Loss To Bucks

From the opening tip the Toronto Raptors looked flat Tuesday night, stumbling the rest of the way through 48 minutes of bad shots and worse defence in what finally ended as a 112 -85 win for the Milwaukee Bucks.

It was really a tale of two teams all night long, as the Bucks scored on virtually every possession, staking themselves a 15-point halftime lead they never came close to relinquishing. As for the Raps, they looked like a shell of the team that came within shots of going to 3-0 against the Boston Celtics Sunday.

They had no answer for Desmond Mason, who was 10-for-10 for 21 points and Milwaukee , a team that didn’t shoot 60 per cent or better from the field in a game all last season, shot 60.3 per cent. What’s worse, the Bucks held Toronto all- star Chris Bosh to one point — his lowest total since being held scoreless against Seattle on Feb. 12, 2004 . His only point came on a free throw with 5:22 left in the second quarter.

For a while, it actually looked like the Bucks were going to have their best shooting night in more than two decades. Milwaukee was shooting over 65 per cent with five minutes left in the game but finished sloppily. Milwaukee hasn’t shot 65 per cent or higher for a game since a victory over Sacramento on Dec. 15, 1985 . It’s doubly impressive, since the Raptors didn’t allow an opponent to shoot over 60 per cent last season.

Toronto ‘s five starters combined for a paltry 28 points. Juan Dixon led the Raptors with 20 points.

Sam Mitchell’s club gets a chance for redemption Wednesday when they return home to welcome the Orlando Magic.
