Location, Location, Location!

The world is full of stories about stupid thieves.  There’s even hour-long TV shows dedicated to showing off their criminal incompetence.  But you’d be hard pressed to find a more ill-suited joint to rip off than the one a Wisconsin man allegedly chose recently.

Aaron Martin is accused of stealing a wooden pallet from a secured area behind the county jail.

A sheriff’s department detective became suspicious when he noticed a car parked in the restricted area, and he confronted Martin, who claimed he worked for a pallet company that has a contract with the county.

The story turned out to be bogus, and the suspect was charged with attempted theft.  A further search of his vehicle turned up what police believed was a pot pipe, and another charge, possession of drug paraphernalia, was tacked on.

At least he didn’t have far to go to get booked.
