The Toronto Maple Leafs snapped a four-game losing skid with a commanding 4-2 win over the Atlanta Thrashers on Thursday night.
After a slew of mediocre games the Leafs showed a rare glimpse of their potential, playing a well-rounded game that saw captain Mats Sundin net his 13th goal of the season. Nik Antropov added two assists, while Andy Wozniewski, Alex Steen, and Matt Stajan added single markers.
“We came out ready to play,” Leafs coach Paul Maurice said. “We had to win this game to get a good feeling and hopefully we can build on this one.”
Ilya Kovalchuk and Tobias Enstrom replied for the Thrashers. Kovalchuk’s goal was his league-leading 20th of the season.
