Dan Ellenberg from sellwithdan.com talked about how the holiday season has an effect on the real estate market. “As busy as we were last year at this point, it’s busier now. This is a family of time of the year, whatever you celebrate,” he said. “I think a lot of people shopping and going to open houses understand that, and we certainly have even in a number of the projects, and we certainly have holiday and seasonal decorative items up in the lobbies and, in our model suites, and the sale centers. I think that’s kind of expected from anybody in any group across our city and any single home, resale or condominium project.” He also gave a few tips to people on how to make their home presentable to potential buyers. “Have a bench or two so that people can sit down and relax and hang their coats. First impressions count for so much, and I see with my clients when I bring them into the home.”
Scott McLellan from Tridel highlighted how strong the market has been this year. “It’s interesting if you compare the end of 2007 to the end of 2006. The end of last year was also a very busy time. This year again, the only difference is even greater in terms of the amount of sales. I think the introduction of the new land transfer tax by the City of Toronto is definitely motivating some people to get into the market while they don’t have to pay anybody that purchases before December 31st.”
