Dustin Hoffmann is definitely concerned with appearance.
Much like the Hollywood star might on the big screen, Hoffmann, a Dunkin’ Donuts clerk from Elmwood Park, New Jersey, sprung into action against a thief over the weekend, but not for the reasons one might think.
When the would-be crook started taking cash from his register Hoffmann immediately grew worried, but not about the stolen money, but rather how he would look on the video-sharing site YouTube.
He says what was going through his mind at the time was that the security tape was going to show one of two things: either him running and hiding or taking the thief on.
That left him only one option, so he grabbed a mug and clobbered the guy.
The tussle scared off the thief, who got away with about $90 but left behind a baseball cap, which police are checking for DNA evidence.
Naturally, Hoffman plans to post the surveillance video as soon as he can. He hopes it will be his Straw Dogs.
