A day filled with violence has ended much the way it began Friday – with more apparent gunfire in the city.
Police have arrested a suspect, believed to be a 17-year-old male, after he allegedly attempted to rob a drug store near Keele and St. Clair and then tried to make a clean getaway. He was reportedly shot as he was fleeing.
Paramedics rushed the young man to hospital. His injuries are serious but not life-threatening.
Police won’t confirm that they shot the suspect but they’ve called in the Special Investigations Unit, which investigates police shootings.
There’s no word on whether the suspect was armed himself.
This latest incident follows a dangerous day on Toronto streets that saw a woman accidentally hit by a bullet during a running gun battle on the Gardiner, a man believed shot in a jewelry store on Queen St. E., another male stabbed in the back, and a domestic argument that appears to have resulted in a serious car crash.
