Southern Ontario’s traffic carnage has inched up another notch, after a fiery multi-car crash in Caledon that left two people dead and sent three others to hospital.
The accident happened around 7pm on Dixie and Old School Road near Mayfield, with three vehicles involved.
Reports indicate that at least one of the cars burst into flame, a gas fueled fire that quickly spread to the other vehicles. The specific cause of the crash still hasn’t been determined though it looks to have been some sort of head-on collision.
The destruction was so bad, cops took several hours to determine how many people were in each car.
Police confirmed that the two fatal victims were travelling in the same vehicle, while a father and son riding in a silver Acura did not sustain serious injuries.
The names of the victims haven’t been released. Though there’s been no confirmation that it was the case Monday, area residents say the stretch of road is often treated as a highway and that drivers routinely speed there.
